Frequently Asked Questions
Planning your evening around the fire? Here are a few helpful things to know.
The Experience
What does a Fire Light Sessions evening look like?
Each Fire Light Sessions event lasts around four hours.
Guests arrive from 6pm, when we’ll welcome you with a seasonal cocktail (with
both alcoholic and alcohol-free options) and the first tastes from the fire while
everyone gathers.
Once everyone has arrived, we sit down together at long tables for a generous
feast cooked over wood fire. Dinner is served on large sharing platters so the whole
table eats together in a relaxed, convivial style.
Expect several courses celebrating seasonal ingredients, local producers and the
pleasures of cooking over fire.
What time does the event start and finish?
Arrival is from 6pm, and we begin the meal once all guests are gathered.
Because the feast is served communally, we do ask everyone to arrive on time so
you don’t miss the opening dishes.
The evening unfolds at a relaxed pace and finishes at 10pm, when we say our
goodbyes. As you leave we’ll send you home with a small Fire Light Sessions gift, a little something to keep the spirit of the fire going long after the evening ends.
What is included in the ticket price?
Sample MenuTickets are £100 per person and include:
• a welcome drink on arrival
• a generous multi-course feast cooked over wood fire
• a glass of wine once seated
For those who’d like to go a little further, we also offer an optional wine flight (£50), thoughtfully paired with the dishes and curated by Shane McHugh, one of the UK’s leading sommeliers.
Additional wines, beers and soft drinks will also be available from the bar throughout the evening.
Please note that our bar is cashless, so card or contactless payment will be required for any additional purchases.
During the feast you’ll also have the chance to chat with your host, Genevieve Taylor, and meet some of the producers and crafts people behind the food and fire.
Will I be hungry when I leave?
Absolutely not! These are generous feasts served across the table, with plenty of food for everyone. Come hungry.
Will I know the menu in advance?
Menus are created close to each event depending on the season and what looks
best from local farms, growers and producers.
For that reason we keep the menu a surprise until you sit down at the table but you
can see a sample of the kinds of food we will serve HERE
If you have allergies or concerns about specific ingredients, please contact us
before booking and we’ll do our best to advise.
What dietary requirements can you cater for?
Because our meals are served sharing-style across the table, we are only able to
guarantee accommodation for vegetarian diets. If you require a vegetarian option, please let us know when purchasing your ticket.
Unfortunately we cannot guarantee accommodation for other dietary requirements, allergies or intolerances.
If you have specific concerns, please contact us before booking.
Is there assigned seating?
No — everyone sits down together at long shared tables.
Part of the joy of Fire Light Sessions is meeting new people, sharing food and
conversation, and enjoying the convivial atmosphere of a big outdoor dinner party.
If you are attending as a group, please let us know and we will do our best to seat
you together.
Practical Things
What should I wear?
These are outdoor feasts, so comfort and practicality are key.
Events take place in working landscapes fields, woodland edges, farms and wild
places where the ground may be uneven.
Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear. Even after a warm day it
can get chilly once the sun goes down, so bringing a jacket, extra layer or even a
blanket, is always wise.
What happens if it rains?
Our events take place outdoors and will go ahead in almost all weather conditions.
Where needed, we provide shelter for the dining area, but you should expect a
proper outdoor experience — which may include mud, smoke, sunshine, wind or
the occasional shower.
In the unlikely event of severe or unsafe weather conditions, we may need to
postpone the event. If this happens, all ticket holders will be notified as soon as possible and tickets will be honoured for a rescheduled date.
Can I bring my own drinks?
Outside alcohol is not permitted.
Your ticket includes a welcome drink on arrival and a glass of wine once seated.
Additional drinks — including the optional wine flight — will be available to
purchase from the bar.
Alcohol-free drinks and soft drinks will also be available.
How do I get to the event?
Guests arrange their own transport to and from the venue. Parking is available at all
locations.
As many of our events take place in rural settings, mobile phone reception can be
unreliable. If you plan to use a taxi or driving service, it’s best to arrange this in
advance.
Are children allowed?
Fire Light Sessions events are strictly for guests aged 18 and over.
The evenings are designed as long, relaxed outdoor feasts and include alcohol service, so they are not suitable for children.
Can I bring my dog?
As much as we love them, pets are not allowed at our events. If you require a registered assistance animal, please contact us in advance so we can make arrangements.
Are the events accessible?
Many of our locations involve natural terrain such as fields, woodland or uneven
ground. If you have accessibility needs or medical considerations, please get in touch
before booking and we will do our best to advise.
What if I leave something behind?
- If you leave something behind, please contact us and we will do our best to help.
- However, as events take place outdoors and often end after dark, we cannot
guarantee that lost items will always be found.
